本會以建構本土奇幻文學環境，培育奇幻文學創作人才及促進國內外奇幻文學及其周邊衍生文化之傳播與發展為宗旨，依有關法令規定辦理下列業務：
一、以建構本土奇幻文學環境為出發點，主辦或協辦各種奇幻文學之演講、學術研討會、座談會或發表會。
二、以培育奇幻文學創作人才為出發點，獎勵及贊助各級學校、文化機構，以策劃及推廣相關創作計劃及活動。
三、以促進國內外奇幻文學及其周邊衍生文化之傳播與發展為出發點，結合中外學者專家與奇幻文學作家之力量推廣相關文化工作，以促進奇幻文學文化交流。
